Two weeks ago, I walked out of the Test Center a winner! ๐
With the sun shining down and a big smile on my face I got into my car, shut the doorโฆand screamed! ๐ฃ๏ธ
โ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐บ! ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐บ! ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐บ!โ
I clutched the steering wheel, my body vibrating with unrelenting triumph! โ

8 months in the making! โ๏ธ
8 months of studying and test-taking! โ๏ธ
8 months of complaining how annoying the memorization was! โ๏ธ
But I stuck through it, because I knew how amazing it was going to feel getting to this moment!
And the moment was finally here: ๐ ๐ก๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐จ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฆ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ ๐๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ฌ๐! ๐
I felt invincible!
Empowered!
Fearless!
And I drove out of the parking lot without a care in the world! ๐

โฆMoments later I look up, and there are flashing lights in my rear view mirror! ๐จ
I had stopped at a stoplight, and while it was red I looked at my social media notifications. ๐
I admit it! I was on my phone while I was driving. I had just let some of my loved ones know I passed the exam so my phone was still in my hands. And, like Pavlovโs dog with a bell, the red light was my habitual signal to: โ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ค๐ฌ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ; ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ข ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ข๐ฎ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ช๐ต!โ ๐ก
Because of this, I hadnโt noticed the stoplight turned green. I also hadnโt noticed the car which pulled up behind me was a police vehicle. ๐
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ ๐จ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐ ๐จ๐ง๐. ๐๐ฒ ๐ก๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ซ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ง! ๐จ
To make a long story short, I pulled over, was upfront with the cop, and he gave me a minor citation. He said it was my honesty which spared me a bigger fine. ๐
Deflated, I tossed my phone in the glove compartment and headed home. Since then, Iโve pledged not to browse my phone while driving, not even at a stoplight. My ego wanted to protest, but the cop was right: ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ก๐จ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐โ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ก ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ ๐ข๐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.๐ฏ
