Why Stress Is A GOOD Thing!

Think about a time when you were really stressed out! (Don’t worry, it’s just for this short moment! 😀 )

Ask yourself:

📍 Why were you feeling stressed?

📍 What were you doing at the time?

📍 Did the situation warrant the amount of stress you were feeling?

It’s important to emphasize: we ALL get stressed at times, including myself! 🙋

Stress is our body’s natural response to perceived danger, our “flight-or-flight” mechanism, sending us a text message in the form of a physiological response: “This situation may be unsafe and you need to pay attention!” ⚠️

So contrary to popular belief, stress can in fact be a GOOD thing! It’s a valuable tool for our basic survival. Without any stress, we wouldn’t be prepared for any possibility of danger. 😱

Where the problem comes in when there’s TOO MUCH of it, when our stress responses are working overtime, when it’s running in situations that don’t require it. 👍

This goes for many of our emotions. They can serve us in multiple ways, but it’s important to remember we can either control our emotions or they will control us. 👍

If you’re feeling stressed right now:

📌 Stop what you’re doing and take a few deep breaths. Direct your focus toward your breath for a minute or two.

📌 Assess the situation. Ask yourself: What is the message stress is trying to give me about my current situation?

📌 Choose what to do with the answers you’re given. Maybe you need to slow down. Maybe you need to focus on just one thing at a time. Maybe the stress is minimal and it’s just expected when you workout.

🌟 You want your emotions to be useful servants, not dominating masters. 🌟
